We drove the strip from Pigeon Forge through Gatlinburg upon our arrival for this trip. It was the off season, on a weekday and many places were at well below their average crowd. We immediately noticed that this was not so for the Local Goat. We saw this a few times in passing, all with the parking lot being jam packed. We were so happy with their gracious invitation to host us on our trip!
The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed. It is well spaced and comfortable. The service was great all evening. It is a great mix between bar and restaurant. They are a true farm to table restaurant. Everything from their kitchen is all made from scratch. The meat is never frozen and this is very critical in the farm to table niche.
We had the deep fried deviled eggs which were very, very good. The candied bacon gave them a delicious crunch while the sriracha gave it a kick. We had the ahi tuna steak cooked medium. This was a great choice and served with a sauteed spinach and a caramelized onion mashed potatoes. The meal was well plated and delicious. The steak was cooked to order, just the way we like it. We also had the boneless pork chop which I really enjoyed. This was a juicy cut and was topped nicely with sweet apples and onions, whipped sweet potatoes, and steamed broccoli. All of the produce was fresh and cooked amazing. I especially enjoyed the sweet potatoes. For dessert we tried the recommended white chocolate bread pudding with locally made salted caramel ice cream melting over it. It came out warm, fresh and melted in my mouth. This is the reigning “Best Dessert in Pigeon Forge”. I wouldn’t argue with those judges.
All of the food options, in our opinion, are on the healthy side, but what we noticed is that nothing is sacrificed for great flavor. All of the food was high quality and delicious but did not let
me consciously realize that I was eating such a well balanced meal. We felt this was fine dining at great prices. A job well done by the folks at the Local Goat. We highly recommend them to anyone in the Pigeon Forge area at any time of the year.
