We had a really great experience getting to learn what Pop Pop’s fudge shop was all about. Pop Pop is very dedicated to hand crafted, 100% home-made quality fudge. His recipe is over 100 years old and has definitely withstood the test of time. The shop’s set up is great for seeing the product made in front of you with mixers and marble slabs immediately behind the counter as you walk in. They also offer a good selection of other local merchandise. They have a great counter of candies that are made in store, in addition to the long glass case of a truly amazing assortment of fudges.
Our favorite part of the experience was watching Pop Pop set up the most incredible candy collage we’ve ever witnessed, the whole while cutting off samples of various fudges and candies, time and again making a point of finding which options best fit our individual tastes. This collage had many of Pop Pop’s fine offerings, although there are many other options he could have at any given time. We had seven fudges that served as the backdrop. These included Oreo, Praline, the Grinch Mint Chip, the Campfire, Peanut Butter Pie, Rock Road, and a special batch of Triple Chocolate. Descriptions of each are too delicious to gloss over, so each flavor is described individually below. The collage also included buckeyes, macaroons, turtle pretzel sticks, chocolate cherry cordials, dark chocolate and white milk chocolate covered Oreos, coconut bon bons made with both white and milk chocolate, dark chocolate espresso beans and white chocolate pretzels. Needless to say their candy bar is out of this world! We would recommend a little variety pack to anyone. We also were able to try some other fudges like the creamsicle, candy cane, and vanilla.
Feasts and Spirits official guide to Pop Pops Fudge Shop!
Oreo Fudge – Very sweet resulting from the oreo cream blending into the fudge. They are great for the sweet tooth.
Praline Fudge – This is one of our favorites! Great presentation with pecans on top.
Grinch Mint Chip Fudge – We were so happy they had this flavor after seeing on their website! It was a great minty but not overpowering mint flavor.
Campfire Fudge – Very unique flavor. This was the first time we have seen graham crackers in fudge. All of the classic smore ingredients wrapped in one amazing fudge.
Peanut Butter Pie Fudge – As far as I’m concerned it’s hard to go wrong with peanut butter pie. This fudge tastes like a Reese’s candy bar melting in your mouth.
Rocky Road Fudge – Rocky Road is my wife’s all time favorite. This lived up to expectations.
Triple Chocolate Fudge – Pop Pop brought this one out. It would be easy to finish a half pound of this on your own. Bar none, Feasts and Spirits favorite.
Creamsicle Fudge – This brought back nostalgic memories for my wife sharing creamsicles with her dad.
Candy Cane Fudge – All of the fudges were creamy. This one was super creamy.
Vanilla Fudge – Very good.
Buckeyes- Awesome cream peanut butter with the right chocolate finish.
Macaroons – We were so lucky they had some of these left! We loved the balanced creaminess countered with the chewiness of the coconut.
Turtle Pretzel Sticks – Even better than the name suggests. We loved the pecans, caramel, and all kinds of chocolate. Also, pretzel was great!.
They have a perfect spot in the Pigeon Forge Strip. We hit them in their off-season and they had just got back in town from an out of state show. They are featured in many shows and are getting ready to head out to Daytona for bike week! Pop Pop has some great plans we’d love to see develop in his nice spaced fudge shop. We are going to be on the lookout for fine coffees and hot steamed sandwiches to go with his fine fudge on our return trip. His place is wheelchair accessible, guaranteeing a good time for all. The fudge keeps very well. We showed up on our first day of the trip. After a few days of being back home, the fudge was very fresh and creamy. Oh, and one other great thing…. they do mail order and are great for gifts from anywhere!
