Mama Jee’s is tucked in a very up and coming part of town right near NC State. Their is nearby free parking on nights and weekends in the Dan Allen Deck and is in a neighborhood which offers great walkability. Mama Jee’s manager, Andrew walked us through the menu and helped let us know what makes them special.
Their menu is trendy and affordable at the same time. Buy One Get One sushi is offered all day / every day, more traditional thai dishes are on the menu, and many exciting choices in between the two tastes.
We tried a Hamachi Kama, Mango Salsa, and Baked Mussels to start off the meal. If you didn’t know, the hamachi is a yellow tail fish. The hamachi kama was presented delicately and was deliciously grilled and served with a salad. It was cripsy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It was super fresh and could be a meal on it’s own. The mango salsa was served over tempura fried tuna crisped just right and both amazingly fresh. The baked mussels were loaded with kani and melt right in my mouth. Still one of my favorite dishes. Hands down these loaded baked mussels are a five pepper review.
We had the Thai House Special which had an authentic Thai taste. It reminded us of a sweet cashew chicken, with deep fried chicken, pineapples, and a Thai sauce which really pulls the dish together. The Panang was a delicious meaty crab with a nice sweet curry sauce We got the Wolf Pack roll and the Surf n Turf which is my all time favorite roll and this spot might just be my favorite to get it. The red onion in the roll really makes it *POP* Mama Jee is on a roll with their fresh innovative twist on Thai cuisine. We ended our private hosting with a fried cheesecake uniquely presented.
Thanks for having us!
