Our Wilmington area adventures continue at Waterman’s Brewing. Stanley has been their head chef since their opening in July 2017. He has been a fan of ours for a while and after our visit, we are true fans of the magic he makes happen in the kitchen. Waterman’s may be a true brewery but they are so much more with the food quality rivaling their out of this world beer selection. This is a very family friendly establishment in their large space offering corn hole, board games, high chairs for the mini foodies, and a very welcoming environment centered around a huge fireplace. While we were there a church group was having a gathering and hymn singing session.
While we looked over the menu, we sampled a flight of some great choices from their strong craft selection. Each of these stood on their own as a robust and balanced beer. Starting off the food part, we had the If Pigs can Fly pork shanks, a seared ahi tuna, and a winter wedge salad. These were all great and creative appetizers. The winter wedge salad had a great cherry tomato jam which was as delicious as it was unique. This was truly one of a kind! We also had the flounder pro’ boy which was massive and tender. The Jarritos braised pork tacos had a mandarin and tamarin base. They weren’t spicy but they were amazingly delicious. We got some of their hot sauces to go.
We loved getting a behind the scenes look of the brew room and appreciated the coordination between their brewer and kitchen team in pairing great combinations. We can’t wait to be back on a return visit when we’re back in the area.
